Undoubtedly the most photogenic city I’ve ever been to, Tokyo has no shortage of photographers trying to capture it’s energy. Masashi Wakui a Tokyo resident has managed to do exactly that, with his unique style he creates compositions that feel like stills from an animated film.
His choice of locations are predominantly the backstreets of Tokyo, adorned with lanterns and neon signs they provide the perfect light that Wakui uses to create the same surreal look you see in film concept art. Such is the energy of these photos it makes me feel instantly nostalgic and creates a whole new urge to return to this beautiful city.
